In 2023, we were awarded the Ulu Padas Hydroelectric Project (UPHEP), a 187.5 MW renewable energy project located across Tenom and Sipitang, Sabah, with an estimated project value of approximately RM4 billion.

Building on this milestone, in 2026 we secured the 150 MWac floating solar installation contract, further expanding the development into an integrated hybrid energy hub that combines hydroelectric and floating solar power generation to strengthen Sabah’s renewable energy capacity.

The project is designed to increase Sabah’s dependable energy capacity by approximately 16% while supporting the state’s target of achieving approximately 35% renewable energy share in its generation mix by 2035.

Upon completion, UPHEP will generate an estimated 1,352 GWh of renewable electricity annually, comprising approximately 1,052 GWh from hydropower and 300 GWh from floating solar generation, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient energy future for Sabah.

The hydroelectric plant is scheduled for commercial operation by 2030, while the floating solar plant is scheduled for commercial operation by 2031.
